Inlet butterfly valve is a high intelligent flow control system integrating mechanical, hydraulic and electric facilities. By adopting double eccentrical butterfly disc, the valve has sufficient safety factor to ensure no damage or destructive deformation under any operating conditions. The valve disc adopts a double-plate over-flow design, which ensures good hydraulic characteristics and low flow resistance coefficient.

Inlet butterfly valve is designed to install between the end of penstock and the inlet end of the turbine spiral case. The main purpose of the valve is to protect and ensure safe operation of the turbine unit. It cut off the upstream water source during turbine unit operates maintenance and overhaul. Especially when the turbine unit operates at runaway speed condition and guide vane can not be closed due to failure, inlet butterfly valve can be closed to cut off water from spiral case emergently to prevent severe accident from happening.


Inlet butterfly valve consists of hydraulic butterfly valve (including hydraulic and electric control system), upstream connection pipe, downstream connection pipe, main dismantling joint, bypass pipeline system, air exhaust valve system, drainage system, etc.


Hydraulic butterfly valve is composed of valve body, disc, trunnion & bearing, sealing device and operation mechanism, etc.


According to the field operation, the inlet butterly valve can be classified into accumulator (open and close valve by hydrauicl) and counterweight type (open by hydraulic, close by counterweight).

By adopting double eccentrical butterfly disc, the valvehas sufficient safety factor to ensure no damage or destructive deformation under any operating conditions. The valve disc adopts a double-plate over-flow design, which ensures good hydraulic characteristics and low flow resistance coefficient.


The trunnion end seal adopts self-tightening double seal and box structure design. Not only such design provides good sealing effect, it also allows convenient disassembly and maintenance.


The manifold block of the accumulator hydraulic system is using integrated type and arranged compactly with high reliability. The electric control system adopts dual power supply, dual control mode, and can perform fault diagnosis remotely.


The bypass valve adopts needle valve which can dissipate energy to prevent downstream from being impacted harmfully.
